Privacy Policy
Last updated 6 August 2026
The plain-English version: there are no accounts, no ads, and no analytics. Your food logs and weights never leave your iPhone — we run no servers and could not read them if we wanted to. The only personal data we hold is the email address you give us on the waitlist.
1. Who is responsible
Macrocycle is operated by Mario de Lima, based in the Netherlands — the data controller for the little data described here. Contact: [email protected].
2. Data in the app stays in the app
Everything you log — food, weights, targets, settings — is stored on your device. There is no Macrocycle account and no Macrocycle server. Your device's own backups (iCloud or computer backups, under your Apple account) will include the app's data like any other app.
To erase the app's data, delete the app; to erase it from backups, remove it there too.
3. Apple Health
With your permission, Macrocycle reads body-weight entries from Apple Health so your weigh-ins appear automatically. It reads weight only, never writes anything, and you can revoke access at any time in the Health app. Apple Health data is end-to-end encrypted by Apple and is never sent to us.
4. Food search, barcodes, and labels
Food search and barcode lookups query Open Food Facts, a public food database. The search text or barcode is sent to their servers along with the standard technical details any web request carries (such as your IP address). No name, no health data, and nothing you have logged goes with it. Nutrition-label scanning runs entirely on your device.
5. Purchases
Macrocycle Pro is bought through Apple. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details. The app receives only the subscription status needed to unlock Pro.
6. During the beta
If you test Macrocycle through Apple's TestFlight, Apple shares your email address and basic install and crash information with us under TestFlight's own terms.
7. This website and the waitlist
The waitlist form is powered by Formspree and stores the email address you enter so we can tell you when Macrocycle launches. We use it for nothing else, and you can have it deleted by emailing [email protected]. The site is hosted on Cloudflare; we set no analytics or advertising cookies, though the host may set strictly-necessary cookies to serve and secure the site.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what personal data we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. In practice that data is your waitlist email and anything you've sent us by email — write to [email protected] and we'll sort it. You can also complain to the Dutch data-protection authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
9. Children
Macrocycle is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so on this site before it takes effect.
